Brush and tree removal set to begin for I-80 bridge project
ATLANTIC, Iowa – A clearing project is scheduled to begin Jan. 7, 2008, to remove trees and brush in preparation for construction of the new Interstate 80 Missouri River Bridge later this year.
Most of the tree removal will be under the current bridge between Iowa and Nebraska and in the median areas on the Iowa side. Lane closures on I-80 are not expected, although shoulder closures may be necessary for some of the median work.
The project has a Jan. 25, 2008 completion date.
Lyon Lawn Seeding and Erosion Control Inc. of Stockport is the prime contractor for this $23,000 clearing project.
