Flood waters close Iowa 5 in Monroe County

FAIRFIELD, Iowa – July 8, 2008 – Iowa 5 has been closed to through traffic in both directions from Iowa 92 in Marion County south to Lovilia in Monroe County due to water over the road at the Cedar Creek bridge, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 5 Office in Fairfield. A detour is in place using local roads.

The road and bridge will reopen once the water recedes, inspections are completed and any repairs due to flood damage are completed.

The Iowa DOT will provide information about the reopening of this section of Iowa 5 as soon as it is available.
