Traffic shifts on U.S. 63 in Mahaska County

CHARITON, Iowa – Aug. 26, 2008 – Traffic on U.S. 63 north of Oskaloosa at milepost 66 will be routed onto an on-site detour, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Chariton construction office.

The detour is due to an ongoing a railroad bridge replacement project on U.S. 63.

The Iowa DOT asks motorists to drive with caution and obey posted signs in the work area. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, obey posted speed limits, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
