Webster County Road D-20 closed for bridge construction

JEFFERSON, Iowa – April 30, 2009 – The Webster County engineer will close County Road D-20 for bridge work beginning May 4, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Jefferson construction office.

The contactor will be setting beams on a bridge near the intersection of Webster County roads D-20 (old U.S. 20) and D-26, causing D-20 to be closed for approximately four days, weather permitting. During the closure, traffic will be detoured using U.S. 20 and U.S. 169 near Fort Dodge. Local traffic will be allowed to utilize the local road system near the bride construction area.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
