I-29 and I-480 ramp restrictions for bridge deck work to begin next week
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – July 1, 2009 – Bridge deck overlay work on Interstate 29 will result in ramp closures from northbound Interstate 29 to westbound Interstate 480 (West Broadway) beginning July 8, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's (DOT) Council Bluffs construction office.
When the ramp closures are in place, traffic will be routed to a marked detour starting on northbound I-29 at exit 53B, traveling north and east to exit 55 (25th Street) on northbound I-29, then under the I-29 overpass to southbound I-29 south bound, back onto southbound I-29 , then south and west to the westbound I-480 exit off I-29.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
