Iowa DOT keeps Iowans informed about I-JOBS transportation programs

AMES, Iowa – July 8, 2009 – To keep the public informed about Iowa’s Infrastructure Investment Initiative’s (I-JOBS) transportation programs and projects, and provide transparency and accountability, the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) has added a special section to its Web site devoted to these goals. Visit www.iowadot.gov/ijobs to learn about the seven multi-modal transportation program areas benefiting from I-JOBS.

Iowa DOT Director Nancy Richardson said, “Whether it is ‘work zone ahead’ or ‘pardon our progress,’ we are excited and appreciative of the opportunities the I-JOBS funding is providing to Iowa’s transportation systems.  We value the public’s involvement in our journey and encourage Iowans to visit the Web site often to stay informed about our progress.”

I-JOBS is an $830 million, three-year initiative of the Culver/Judge Administration intended to create jobs, strengthen the state’s economy and invest in Iowa’s infrastructure. A total of $115 million from this initiative will be invested in our state’s bridges and roads, freight and passenger rail systems, recreational trails, general aviation airports, and public transit systems.
