Lane closure on U.S. 30 in Cedar Rapids beginning Thursday

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – July 29, 2009 – Construction activities will close the left lane of eastbound U.S. 30 between Kirkwood Boulevard and C Street in Cedar Rapids from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cedar Rapids construction office.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
