Lane restrictions near the west junction of Iowa 2/U.S. 63 in Davis County to last until late September
CHARITON, Iowa – July 30, 2009 – Construction work in Davis County where Iowa 2 and U.S. 63 run congruently has caused one lane of the roadway to be closed intermittently, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Chariton construction office.
When lane restrictions are in place, traffic will be assisted through the half-mile work zone by flaggers and a pilot car. The roadway will be returned to normal when lane restrictions are not in place. The construction project is expected to run though September, weather permitting.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
