Northbound Iowa 14 closed at the Iowa River bridge in Marshall County beginning Aug. 3

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – July 27, 2009 – Repair work to the Iowa River bridge on Iowa 14 at the north edge of Marshalltown will close the northbound lanes of the road to traffic beginning Monday, Aug. 3, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's (DOT) Marshalltown construction office.

Traffic will be diverted in a head-to-head pattern in the southbound lanes of Iowa 14 over the Iowa River Bridge. The lane closure is expected to last until mid-October.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
