Patching work on U.S. 169 in Kossuth County to start July 9

BRITT, Iowa – July 8, 2009 – Lane closures can be expected on U.S. 169 from Bancroft to the east junction of Iowa 9 beginning Thursday, July 9, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Britt construction office.

Crews performing crack sealing operations on U.S. 169 will cause traffic to be restricted to one lane. Flaggers and a pilot car will assist motorists through the work area when the contractor is working on the road. Traffic will return to normal when workers are not on-site. The project is expected to be completed July 14, weather and schedules permitting.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
