Southbound I-35 to close overnight Monday for construction work

DES MOINES, Iowa – July 2, 2009 – Continuing construction work will cause the closure of southbound Interstate 35 north of Des Moines overnight Monday, July 6, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's (DOT) Des Moines construction office.

A single lane of southbound I-35 from Oralabor Road in Ankeny to the east mixmaster on the north edge of Des Moines will be closed from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday evening. From 11 p.m. Monday  to 6 a.m. Tuesday, the entire roadway will be closed. Traffic will be routed to a marked detour.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
