U.S. 169 in Adel down to one lane beginning July 15

CRESTON, Iowa – July 10, 2009 – Road construction will cause intermittent lane closures near the intersection of U.S. 169 and U.S. 6 in Adel beginning Wednesday, July 15, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's (DOT) Creston construction office.

While crews are working to remove and replace the existing asphalt surface, the roadway  will be reduced to one lane at times. The work will begin at the intersection of Greenwood Drive then extend north to Greene Street. During the lane closures, traffic will be assisted through the work area by flaggers. The project is expected to be completed by in approximately one week, weather permitting.  

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
