U.S. 63 lane restrictions start Monday between Waterloo and Denver

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – July 2, 2009 – Patching work is set to begin Monday, June 6, as part of the ongoing work on U.S. 63 from just north of Waterloo to one mile south of Denver, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's (DOT) New Hampton construction office. Once the patching work is complete, the pavement will be widened and resurfaced.

During these operations, intermittent lane closures will be in place with at least one lane of traffic maintained in each direction. This work is expected to be completed by late summer.

Also beginning next week is the extension of a culvert at the U.S. 63/Larrabee Street Intersection just south of Denver. This work will require a shoulder closure and take about a week to complete. Please make sure to observe traffic signs and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
