U.S. 65 lanes restricted in Indianola
DES MOINES, Iowa – July 10, 2009 – Resurfacing of U.S. 65 will cause intermittent lane closures from after Iowa 92 to before U.S. 69 in Indianola, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's (DOT) Des Moines construction office.
Intermittent lane closures will be in place milling and resurfacing the roadway. To minimize disruption to commuter traffic, the contractor is not allowed to close the northbound lanes from 6:30 t 8:30 a.m. or the southbound lanes from 4 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Expect lane closures anytime outside those restrictions. The lane restrictions may be in place until mid-December, weather permitting.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
