Iowa 12 to close Nov. 2 for roadside repair in Plymouth County

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Oct. 30, 2009 – Iowa 12 in Plymouth County will close Nov. 2, weather permitting, to allow crews to repair a potential embankment slide adjacent to the roadside and prevent future damage to Iowa 12, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Sioux City construction office.

The slide repair work will take place approximately seven miles north of the Woodbury County line. Iowa 12 traffic is being detoured using Plymouth County roads K-18 and C-38. The closure is expected to be in place up to two weeks.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
