Overhead sign work restricts lanes on U.S. 63 near U.S. 20 interchange in Waterloo

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Oct. 28, 2009 – Overhead sign installation will cause intermittent lane closures in both directions on U.S. 63 (Sergeant Road) near the U.S. 20 interchange in Waterloo, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) New Hampton construction office.

A contractor will be placing the overhead signs, causing periodic lane restrictions on both north- and southbound U.S. 63 until mid-November.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
