Eastbound I-80 lanes restricted in Johnson County overnight tonight

 

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Nov. 2, 2009 – Construction work will cause the closure of the left lane of eastbound Interstate 80 overnight tonight at the interchange of I-80 and Iowa 1 in Iowa City, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cedar Rapids construction office.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. tonight. The roadway is expected to be open by 6 a.m. Tuesday. The closure is necessary to allow the contractor to pour the new deck for the southbound Iowa 1 bridge over I-80.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
