I-380 lanes restricted for sign installation in Cedar Rapids beginning tonight

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Nov. 17, 2009 – Installation of a dynamic message board will restrict traffic to two lanes in both directions on Interstate 380 at exit 18 (Wilson Avenue) in Cedar Rapids between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. weekdays and Saturday mornings beginning tonight, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Davenport construction office.

The contractor will be allowed to intermittently close traffic lanes as needed. No lane closures are allowed from 6 a.m. Saturdays to 8 p.m. Mondays. The sign installation is expected to be completed by mid-December, weather permitting.

A 12-foot width lane restriction will be in place during closures.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
