Lane closure on I-74 Mississippi River bridge in Bettendorf postponed until Thursday

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Nov. 18, 2009 – Inclement weather has postponed a planned lane closure on the Interstate 74 Mississippi River bridge in Bettendorf scheduled for today, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport maintenance office.

Bridge lighting repairs are now expected to close the southbound (Illinois-bound), right lane of the I-74 Mississippi River bridge at exit 4 (Grant Street and U.S. 67/State Street) on Thursday, Nov. 19, weather permitting. Brief delays can be expected.

The repair work is expected to begin at approximately 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. This includes the closure of the State Street ramp in Iowa.

Motorists are urged to use caution in the work zone, obey traffic control signing, reduce distractions, and wear seat belts.
