Lane closure on I-74 Mississippi River bridge in Bettendorf postponed until Wednesday

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Nov. 17, 2009 – Inclement weather has postponed a planned lane closure on the Interstate 74 Mississippi River bridge in Bettendorf scheduled for today, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport maintenance office.

Bridge lighting repairs are now expected to close the southbound (Illinois-bound), right lane of the I-74 Mississippi River bridge in Bettendorf at exit 4 (Grant Street and U.S. 67/State Street) on Wednesday, Nov. 18, weather permitting. Brief delays can be expected.

The repair work is expected to begin at approximately 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. This includes the closure of the State Street ramp in Iowa.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
