Loop closure at I-380/U.S. 218 and I-80 interchange in Johnson County overnight Nov. 4 and 5

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Nov. 3, 2009 – Construction work will closed the loop from southbound Interstate 380/U.S. 218 to eastbound Interstate 80 over the next few nights, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cedar Rapids construction office.

The loop is expected to be closed overnight Wednesday, Nov. 4, and Thursday, Nov. 5, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night. Traffic will be detoured to the Melrose Avenue interchange when the loop is closed.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
