Overnight closures on northbound I-35/eastbound I-80 in Des Moines tonight

DES MOINES, Iowa – Nov. 17, 2009 – Traffic northbound Interstate 35/eastbound Interstate 80 will be restricted to two lanes from exit 124 (University Avenue) to exit 125 (Hickman Road/U.S. 6) beginning at 10 p.m. tonight until 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Des Moines construction office.

In addition to the lane restrictions, lanes in this work area will be completely closed for 20-minute intervals between midnight and 2 a.m. The lane closures are necessary to allow for sign truss removal.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
