Periodic ramp closures planned on U.S. 30 in Ames for pavement marking

DES MOINES, Iowa – Nov. 2, 2009 – Several entrance and exit ramps from U.S. 30 in Ames will be closed intermittently overnight Nov. 3, 4 and 5, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Des Moines construction office.

A contactor will be placing pavement markings on the entrance and exit ramps at Duff Avenue, University Boulevard and South Dakota Avenue.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
