Weather postpones opening of U.S. 65 between Manly and Northwood
BRITT, Iowa – Nov. 16, 2009 – Wet weather has caused the postponement of the opening of U.S. 65 between Manly and Northwood scheduled for today, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Britt construction office.
Weather permitting, traffic on U.S. 65 between Manly and Northwood will be returned to that roadway Wednesday after being detoured all summer. Work to be done includes painting of traffic lines.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
