Travel conditions improving in central and south central Iowa
AMES, Iowa – Feb. 8, 2010 – 8:30 p.m. – Travel conditions have improved somewhat in central and south central Iowa. Sections of Interstates 80 and 35 continue to be listed as “travel not advised,” but most area roadways are now partially, mostly or completely covered with snow and ice.
The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) cautions drivers that conditions could quickly deteriorate overnight should wind speeds increase lowering visibility, especially in rural areas. Bitterly cold temperatures will increase the risk, should a motorist become stranded.
