Bridge closure on westbound U.S. 34 in Osceola

CHARITON, Iowa – March 19, 2010 – Bridge construction work will cause the closure of the westbound bridge on U.S. 34 at Interstate 35 in Osceola, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Chariton construction office.

 

Traffic will be shifted to a head-to-head pattern in the eastbound lanes. The bridge construction work is scheduled to be completed by the first part of October 2010.

 

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
