Flooding concerns continue on Iowa highways
AMES, Iowa – March 19, 2010 – 9 a.m. – Wet weather is moving into Iowa today, increasing the risk for flooded roadways. The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) cautions motorists to be mindful of the changing weather conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. The Iowa DOT is currently reporting three road closures.
● U.S. 59 is closed on the south side of Cherokee due to flooding from the Little Sioux River. Traffic is being rerouted using Iowa 3, Cherokee County Road C-43 and Linden Street.
● U.S. 169 is closed between U.S. 6 and Iowa 44 in the Adel area. Traffic is being rerouted using Dallas County roads F-60, P-58 and Iowa 44.
● Iowa 31 is closed south of Correctionville due to flooding from the Little Sioux River. Traffic is being rerouted using Woodbury County roads L-36 and D-38.
Potential closure
- While some flooding may still be possible, the flood risk that would close U.S. 30 at the Des Moines River west of Boone appears to have subsided somewhat.
