Nighttime road construction work to begin March 15 on I-74, I-80 and I-280 in Cedar and Scott counties
Davenport, Iowa – March 9, 2010 – Lane restrictions will be in place for pavement patching projects scheduled to begin March 15, on portions of interstates 74, 80 and 280 in both directions, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Davenport construction office. Motorists should expect delays and leave early so you can reach your destination on time.
Lane restrictions will be in place from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. beginning Mondays and ending Fridays at 6 a.m., and 9 p.m. Sundays until 6 a.m. Mondays for the following locations.
- I-74 from/to I-80 (exit 298) to/from the Iowa and Illinois boarder
- I-80 from/to Cedar County Road Y-26 (exit 277) to/from the Iowa and Illinois boarder
- I-280 from/to I-80 (exit 290) to/from the Iowa and Illinois boarder
The projects include patching the interchange ramps and side roads along each route. A 12-foot width lane restriction will also be in place. The roadway will return to normal traffic patterns when workers are not present.
The projects are expected to be completed by late May 2010, weather permitting.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
