Posted on: April 21, 2010

JEFFERSON, Iowa – April 21, 2010 – Bridge deck overlay work on U.S. 30 at the Des Moines River bridge west of Boone will cause lane restrictions beginning Monday, May 3, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Jefferson construction office.

During construction, the roadway will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The project is expected to be completed and traffic patterns returned to normal by September, weather permitting.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
