Bridge maintenance work on Iowa 188 near Plainfield begins July 28
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – July 27, 2010 – A bridge painting project on the Iowa 188 bridge located between U.S. 218 and Bremer County Road V-14 one mile east of Plainfield will begin at approximately 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) New Hampton construction office.
Occasional lane closures will be required during daylight hours. When lane closures are in place, flaggers will be used to direct traffic away from the work area. The project is expected to be completed Aug. 18.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
