Iowa 39 near Kiron to close Aug. 9 for bridge maintenance work

 

CHEROKEE, Iowa – July 27, 2010 – Iowa 39 east of Kiron between Sac County roads M-35 and D-59 will be closed beginning Aug. 9 until Oct. 15 for bridge maintenance work, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cherokee construction office.

 

Motorists will be asked to follow the detour signs during this road closure.

 

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
