Lane restriction on U.S. 151 in Jones County begins today

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Sept. 1, 2010 – Milling and resurfacing work on southbound U.S. 151 in Jones County will require traffic to be restricted to one lane from Old Dubuque Road in Anamosa to Iowa 1 starting today from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cedar Rapids construction office.

When work is in progress the roadway will be restricted to one lane with an 11-foot width lane restriction. The project is expected to be completed Oct. 1. River City Paving of Dubuque is the contractor for the project.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
