Lane restrictions and exit ramp closure on southbound I-35 near West Des Moines begin Sept. 12

DES MOINES, Iowa – Sept. 9, 2010 – Hot-mix asphalt work will cause traffic on southbound Interstate 35 to be restricted to one lane between exit 68 (Iowa 5) and exit 70 (Mills Civic Parkway) near West Des Moines beginning 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, until 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Des Moines construction office.

The exit 69A off-ramp to Grand Avenue will also be closed during this time. Motorists should follow the marked detours during these closures.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
