U.S. 218 near La Porte City closed beginning Sept. 7 for utility work

 

WATERLOO, Iowa – Sept. 2, 2010 – Utility work will require the closure of U.S. 218 between Black Hawk County roads D-65 and D-46 near La Porte City beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7, until Tuesday, Sept. 28, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's Waterloo maintenance office. Traffic will be detoured from Commercial Street to Main Street and to U.S. 218.

 

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
