AMES, Iowa – Oct. 15, 2010 – The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) will be evaluating new technology to clear snow and ice from urban expressways this winter season. Three tow plows were recently delivered to the Iowa DOT to be used in pilot projects in the Des Moines, Waterloo and Sioux City areas. These plows will allow one snow plow truck to clear two traffic lanes with one pass, making snow removal operations take less time.
The media is invited to view the new technology as Iowa DOT equipment operators are trained on the equipment.
When: Wednesday, Oct. 20 3-4 p.m.
