January 09, 2011

AMES, Iowa – Jan. 9, 2011 – 6 p.m. – The Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Office of Motor Carrier Services is reminding commercial motor carriers that movement of permitted oversize loads is only allowed when the roadways are clear of ice and snow, and visibility is at least 1/4 mile.

Snowfall totals will range from 6-9 inches in the west and generally 3-6 inches in the east, with the lowest amounts near the Mississippi River. A few localized totals in excess of 10 inches are possible near the southwest Missouri border.
