AMES, Iowa – Oct. 28, 2011 – The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is announcing office closures in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.
All Iowa DOT offices will be closed Friday, Nov. 11.
Iowa DOT’s driver's license stations
All Iowa DOT driver’s license stations, normally open Tuesday through Saturday, will be closed Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.
In lieu of Saturday service, the stations will be open Monday, Nov. 14, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Normal business hours will resume at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Iowa DOT’s Office of Motor Carrier Services
The Iowa DOT’s Office of Motor Carrier Services will be closed Friday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. Normal business hours will resume at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14. Normal hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Because the Office of Motor Carrier Services typically experiences a heavy workload on the day following the holiday, customers are urged to submit applications for oversize permits, especially those weighing more than 156,000 pounds, several days before the permit is needed.
The Office of Motor Carrier Services, located at 6310 S.E. Convenience Blvd. in Ankeny, is a one-stop source for fuel, trip and oversize load permits; international registration plan (IRP) registration; international fuel tax agreement (IFTA) licensing; and travel authority needed by motor carriers and commercial vehicle operators to operate in Iowa.
