Public input requested for proposed bridge replacement on Iowa 152 over I-35 in Clarke County

AMES, Iowa – July 5, 2012 – The Iowa Department of Transportation is requesting public input on the proposed replacement of the Iowa 152 bridge over Interstate 35 north of Osceola.

The project provides for replacement of the existing bridge with a 40-foot wide bridge; construction of new bridge approaches; guardrail replacement at the west end of the bridge; and resurfacing of the ramp terminals on the east side of the bridge.

Proposed traffic management

  • Through traffic on Iowa 152 and Clarke County Road R-35 would be detoured during construction using Interstate 35 entrance and exit ramps at the interchange.
  • Westbound Iowa 152 traffic would use the northbound I-35 exit ramp, proceed north to the Warren County Road G-76 interchange (exit 43), cross over I-35, and then return on southbound I-35 to the Iowa 152 exit.
  • Eastbound Iowa 152 traffic would exit onto southbound I-35, continue south to exit 34, cross over I-35, and then return on northbound I-35 to the Iowa 152 exit.

For general information or to make a comment regarding the proposed improvements, contact Greg Mulder, assistant district engineer, Iowa DOT District 5 Office, 307 W. Briggs, P.O. Box 587, Fairfield, Iowa  52556, telephone 641-472-4171 or 800-766-4368, email greg.mulder@dot.iowa.gov.
