Iowa Transportation Commission to meet Aug. 13 and 14 in Clinton

AMES, Iowa – Aug. 10, 2012 – The Iowa Transportation Commission will hold its next business meeting Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Rastrelli’s Restaurant, 238 Main Ave. in Clinton. Following the business meeting, the Commission will host a public input meeting at the same location. Four such meetings are held around the state each year. 

On Monday, Aug. 13, the Commission will meet informally during a workshop session and participate in two tours.

Transportation tours – Monday, Aug. 13

  • The Commission and Iowa Department of Transportation staff will tour transportation projects in eastern Iowa on Monday starting at 10 a.m. from the Hampton Inn, 2781 Wild Rose Circle South in Clinton. 
  •  After their informal workshop session, which ends at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Monday, the Commission and Iowa DOT staff will take a boat tour on the Mississippi River looking at two freight harbor operations, an existing railroad bridge, a proposed high bridge, and highway river crossings.

Transportation-related matters may be discussed, but no action will be taken during the tours.

Informal workshop session – Monday, Aug. 13

The Commission will meet informally with staff from the Iowa DOT from 3:30-4:40 p.m. at Rastrelli's Restaurant, 238 Main Ave. in Clinton. After the business meeting, the Commission and Iowa DOT staff will reconvene their informal workshop session at 8:30 a.m. and meet with officials from the Illinois DOT.
