Emergency road closure to begin on Iowa 415 (2nd Avenue) in Des Moines tomorrow

DES MOINES, Iowa – Oct. 6, 2012 – Iowa 415 (2nd Avenue) in Des Moines will be closed beginning at noon Sunday, Oct. 7 for repairs to a railroad bridge. For northbound traffic, the roadway will be closed at Euclid. For travelers southbound on Iowa 415, the closure will begin at NW Hoffman Lane.

The marked detour for northbound Iowa 415 traffic is eastbound U.S. 6 (Euclid Avenue) to northbound U.S. 69 (14th Street) to Interstate 35/80. The southbound Iowa 415 detour will utilize U.S. 69.

The road closure is necessary to allow for repairs to the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad bridge that was damaged when it was hit yesterday. The closure is expected to be in place until late Wednesday.
