Posted on: November 02, 2012

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Nov. 2, 2012 – A bridge-widening project on 53rd Street over Interstate 74 (exit 1) in Davenport will require a special lane restriction, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport construction office.  A 10-foot width lane restriction on westbound 53rd Street is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 3, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., weather permitting, to place the final median curb for the I-74/53rd Street interchange reconstruction project.

The I-74/53rd Street interchange reconstruction project remains on schedule to be completed by December of this year.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
