AMES, Iowa – March 6, 2013 – Contractors will be closing 34th Avenue N.W. over Interstate 80 in Altoona Monday, March 11, to remove a bridge that will be replaced, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Des Moines construction office. This bridge project is part of the larger ongoing project to replace the I-80 interchange (exit 142) near Adventureland.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
