Light Snow Over Parts of Iowa Affecting Travel #iatraffic
AMES, Iowa – March 1, 2013: 8:15 a.m. – The Iowa Department of Transportation is advising motorists to exercise caution this morning as light snow is falling and beginning to accumulate on the highways. According to the 511 Traveler Information service, many roadways in the eastern half of the state are partially or mostly covered, as well as those in central and north central Iowa.
Expect patchy slick areas and follow these recommended safety tips:
- Reduce your speed for conditions.
- Put some additional space between your vehicle and the one ahead.
- Do not use cruise control.
- Make sure everyone in your vehicle is wearing their seat belt.
