Lane Restrictions on Iowa 9 at the Mississippi River Bridge Near Lansing Begin April 29 #iatraffic

April 19, 2013

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – April 19, 2013 – Bridge maintenance work and painting will require restricting traffic to one lane on Iowa 9 at the Mississippi River bridge between Lansing, Iowa, and Wisconsin beginning Monday, April 29, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

Traffic will be directed through the work zone by flaggers from sunrise to sunset on weekdays and Saturdays. Beginning Monday, May 6, temporary traffic signals will direct traffic through the work zone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The open lane will have a 9-foot width lane restriction.

This project is expected to be completed by late October.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
