Nighttime Road Construction on I-80 in Polk County Begins May 12 #iatraffic

DES MOINES, Iowa – April 24, 2013 – Nighttime hot-mix asphalt resurfacing work on both directions of Interstate 80 between I-35/235 (exit 123) near West Des Moines and Iowa 141/Northwest Urbandale Drive (exit 127) near Urbandale will require intermittent lane and ramp closures. The lane and ramp closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. Sundays to 6 a.m. Mondays and from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays beginning Sunday, May 12, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Jefferson construction office.

This project is expected to be completed by late September.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
