MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – April 1, 2013 – Eastbound U.S. 30 from Sandhill Trail near Ames to just east of 610th Avenue/West 18th Street (Airport Road) near Nevada will be reconstructed beginning Monday, April 8, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Marshalltown construction office. During this project traffic will be operating in a two-lane, two-way traffic pattern in the westbound lanes of U.S. 30 until late July.
During this project, access to U.S. 30 from the south will not be allowed at the following intersections.
Access to U.S. 30 from the north will be limited to right-in, right-out operations at the following intersections.
The south leg of the U.S. 30/Sandhill Trail intersection will be closed for one weekend to reconstruct the eastbound U.S. 30 lanes toward the end of the project. The exact dates of the closure will be announced as construction progresses. The north leg of the U.S. 30/Sandhill Trail intersection will remain open for the duration of the project.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
