MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – April 3, 2013 – Road construction work on Iowa 14 between Grundy County Road D-19 (one-half mile north of U.S. 20) and Iowa 57 (near Parkersburg in Butler County) will require lane restrictions beginning Monday, April 8, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Marshalltown construction office.
During this initial patching phase of the project, traffic will be operating in a single-lane pattern in alternating directions weekdays during daylight hours. Motorists will be directed through the work zone by flaggers and a pilot car until the beginning of May.
In the beginning of May the second phase of the project begins and the route will be closed and detoured to allow for construction. See map for more details.
This project is expected to be completed by late June.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
