SIOUX CITY, Iowa – April 23, 2013 – Reconstruction of a four-lane highway to include a center left-turn lane on U.S. 75 in Merrill, in Plymouth County, will require lane restrictions beginning Monday, April 29, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Sioux City construction office.
During the first week of May, traffic will be switched to one lane in each direction between the BNSF’s railroad crossing and the bridge over the West Fork of the Floyd River. The $3.1 million reconstruction project was awarded to Cedar Valley Corp. of Waterloo.
This project is expected to be completed by Nov. 1.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
