over July 4, the Iowa Department of Transportation is reminding travelers that
planning ahead is a good way to reduce travel headaches.
Iowa’s 511 service is a 24-hour/seven-days-a-week
service of the Iowa DOT that provides real-time updates about weather-related
road conditions, road work, commercial vehicle restrictions, traffic incidents,
road closures and other events that impact traffic.
Get highway route reports, view camera images,
see weather warnings, read the messages displayed on active electronic road
signs, and see traffic speeds in certain locations.

personalized route information, the Iowa DOT offers “My Routes” alerts via email and/or text message. Alerts keep travelers informed
about traffic incidents, road closures and other restrictions that affect the
highway routes users have preselected.
