U.S. 63 and Iowa 58 Detour Routes Near Hudson to Change July 22 for Reconstruction Work #iatraffic

Posted on: July 17, 2013

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – July 17, 2013 – Reconstruction and realignment work will require closing the intersection of U.S. 63 and Iowa 58 at the south end of Hudson beginning Monday, July 22, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

U.S. 63 traffic will be detoured east on Black Hawk County Road D-46 to Iowa 21, north to U.S. 20, then west to U.S. 63.

Iowa 58 will be open from U.S. 20 to Woods Street at the south edge of Hudson. From that point to connect with U.S. 63, Iowa 58 traffic will be directed east on Woods Street, continuing east on Schrock Road (Black Hawk County Road D-35) to Iowa 21, south on Iowa 21 to Black Hawk County Road D-46, then west on D-46 to U.S. 63.

This change will allow the contractor to work on both ends of the project simultaneously and is estimated to shorten the project time by approximately five weeks, weather permitting.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
